UNDER 13's - SEASON REVIEW

U 13 Team Manager – Ian Yard
Assistant Manager – Shane Lovatt
Coach – Paul Lawrence
Sponsored by Mike James; MJT Controls and Somerlap Forest Products Ltd

Ian & Shane had moved up a level to take charge of this team, bringing with them a good number of the players previously under their management in the U11’s squad last season and a good deal of experience. The lack of early season match practice, however, showed in the first game as we were unceremoniously dumped out of the Cup by nine wickets verus Claverham With a similar league result later in the season against Cleeve Comets, these were unexpectedly heavy defeats, whilst 3 of the other 4 league games lost were only in very close single figure margins, which could have gone in our favour. As with the U11’s we had a very strong run in the second half of the season winning 6 out of the last 8 games, the losses being against the eventual league winners Nailsea and runners-up Cleeve Comets.

So we have played all our games, bar 2 rain affected ones not able to be re-arranged for which the points were shared, and as the table below shows have finish in a very satisfying 6th position. Match summaries are at the end of this report.

A season, therefore, of much achievement and my thanks go particularly to Ian Yard for all the effort and hard work he has put into organising this team so successfully both on the field and behind the scenes, ably assisted and scored by Shane. Additionally we must not forget Paul Lawrence (Coach), Anne Williams who did superbly handling the time consuming job of providing Matt with all the scorebook information for posting on the website. Thanks too to all the parents who helped with the refreshment duties, transportation etc, without whose support we would find it hard to cope. Finally we must mention our Youth Sponsors recorded above whose contributions are a big help in funding all our teams activities and last but not least thanks to our groundsman Fid without whom we could not play the games!
