A message From The Club
Welcome to the official web site of Blagdon Cricket Club. Whether you are just surfing the net, or have newly arrived in the Village and are looking for a club to join, we are sure there will be plenty to interest you at our wonderful club.
Blagdon has a long history going back to 1888 and is one of the oldest established cricket clubs with one of the most beautiful grounds in the North Somerset area. We are situated in the heart of the Village, being a vital Village institution serving the community and drawing support from the surrounding area.
We have played at a number of grounds in our history but have been based at the picturesque 'Bartons' since 1947. The full list of grounds we've played at are as follows:
The Park, Coombe Lodge (1888-1902, 1909-1920, 1929-1939)Rocks Corner, Coombe Lodge (1903-1908)
The Recreation Field (1921-1928)
The Bartons, Bath Road (1947-present)
We currently field three senior sides and play the game to a high standard. Our first team are in Division 4 of the B&D League, we field a development team in the B&D 30 Over league and we also field a Sunday senior team which play in the North Somerset League. We have a strong and well established youth cricket policy fielding teams at under 11, 13, and under 15 age groups, who compete in local league and knock out cup competitions.
We have various junior coaching sessions held during the season which are open to both boys and girls. ECB Accredited coaches instruct youngsters in the basics of the game and prepare older children for eventual entry into the senior sides.
As part of our ongoing commitment, we had the square completely re-laid in 2012 and have state of the art ECB standard all weather nets available for members use ( restrictions apply). If you are looking to play some cricket or are thinking of introducing a child to our youth setup, please make contact through our ‘Contact Us’ page, or just turn up on any match day or at any coaching session and make yourself known.
If watching cricket is your thing, a warm welcome awaits you at Blagdon Cricket Club where you will find that the gentle slope at the top of the ground offers the perfect vantage point for watching cricket, while the shelter of the dew pond provides the ideal spot to catch the evening sunshine.
Whatever your interest in the game, be it active participation, quality coaching for your children or just a relaxing way to spend a summer’s day, please be assured that you will be made very welcome at this most hospitable and friendly club.
